Sights/Optics: The front sight is a Winchester 97A sight atop a ramp with the hood removed. The rear sight is a  Winchester 32C open sight. The optic is a factory Winchester No. 3 telescope, 2.75-power with crosshair reticle. The glass is mostly clear with a few scattered scratches.

Grip/Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is a #769-1A 27.5" thin profile stock. The stock is wood, the buttstock has a straight comb, semi-pistol grip, and checkered hard rubber Winchester buttplate. The buttplate shows light wear mostly located around the edges. The furniture shows light wear with some scattered pressure dings and surface scuffs. Most notable is a tiny crack on the lower right side of the buttstock running from the buttplate. The LOP measures 12.5" from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. There are no chips. This furniture rates in Very Good condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp with faint wear. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 9.5/10.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 97% of its metal finish. The finish is very strong only showing a few scratches and very infrequent faint freckling. The trigger and trigger guard show edge wear and patina. The screw heads are lightly tooled and retain strong slots. The markings are clear and complete. Overall, this rifle rates in about Fine condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this firearm. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This is an exceptionally well preserved pre war rimfire rifle that retains approximately 97% of its original blue finish. The metal surfaces are uniform and clean, showing only light handling evidence, and the long 25 inch barrel presents the classic sporting silhouette that helped define Winchester’s small bore rifles of the period. The stock profile and finish remain sharp and attractive, and the rifle presents the crisp, well fitted appearance expected of a high condition Model 69 Dual Sight variant.

Mechanically, the rifle is equally strong. The bore rates 9.5 out of 10 with excellent rifling and a bright interior. The action functions correctly and exhibits the smooth, controlled feel that made the Model 69 one of Winchester’s most respected bolt action rimfires. The Dual Sight configuration was a desirable catalogue option, providing both open sights and a factory mounted scope for versatile accuracy.

As a very high condition and scarce example from the late 1930s to early 1940s, this Model 69 reflects the quality of Winchester’s rimfire production in the years immediately preceding the Second World War. It remains a handsome and well preserved representative of one of Winchester’s finest rimfire sporting rifles.
