Sights / Optics: The front sight is a hooded beaded blade dovetailed to a serrated ramped base, fixed to the barrel. The rear sight is a u-notch elevator sight dovetailed to the barrel. The top of the receiver is scope grooved.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are two-piece checkered wood featuring a banded forend, a straight grip, a straight comb and a black synthetic buttplate. The checkering is crisp. There are no chips or cracks. The LOP measures 13 5/8" from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. Overall, the stocks are in about Excellent Condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer's opinion the bore rates 10/10.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 99% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish is strong and complete. There is no handling wear. The action shows no operational wear. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle is in Excellent Condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The hammer has a half-cock safety position. The trigger is crisp. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: Made between 1972 and 2004, the Winchester Model 9422 was introduced as a way to try and earn back Winchester’s reputation after the post-1964 manufacturing changes. Utilizing a modified version of Winchester’s Model 61 slide-action mechanism, while retaining the look and feel of the Model 1894, the 9422 was a successful endeavor. This is a near-new example that appears to have seen very limited use, if any at all. This rifle would be a great addition to any Winchester or lever action collection.
