Sights/Optics: There are no provisions for iron sights. A Tasco 3-9x40mm scope is mounted atop the receiver. The glass is clear and the scope rates in Very Good condition.

Grip/Stock Configuration & Condition: The furniture is one piece synthetic with a cheekpiece, checkered semi-pistol grip, checkered forend, and a squishy synthetic recoil pad. The recoil pad has minimal handling wear. The furniture shows only a few small scratches. The LOP measures 13" from the front of the trigger to the back of the recoil pad. There are no chips or cracks. The furniture rates in Fine condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp with heavy fouling. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 9/10.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 98% of its original metal finish. There are only a few very minor surface scratches and spots of freckling. The screw heads are unmarred and retain turnable slots. The markings are clear and complete. Overall, this rifle rates in Fine Plus condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this firearm. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This Weatherby Vanguard was manufactured after 2002 and represents one of Weatherby's most popular bolt-action hunting rifle platforms. Produced by Weatherby, the Vanguard series is known for strong actions, dependable performance, and excellent out-of-the-box accuracy. Built to Weatherby's specifications, these rifles have earned a reputation as practical and reliable hunting arms.

Chambered in .270 WSM with a 24 inch barrel, this rifle combines the proven Vanguard action with the flat-shooting and hard-hitting performance of the .270 Winchester Short Magnum cartridge. A Tasco scope is mounted atop the receiver, providing a practical optic setup for hunting applications. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 9 out of 10, indicating strong internal condition with well-defined rifling. The action functions correctly.
