Sights/Optics: The front sight is a hooded post with a serrated base banded around the barrel. The rear sight is an adjustable elevation u-notch banded around the barrel. The top of the rib is grooved for mounting optics, none present.

Grip/Stock Configuration & Condition: The furniture is one piece checkered wood set with a cheek piece, capped semi-pistol grip, serrated synthetic buttplate, and sling studs front and rear. The buttplate shows light handling wear. The furniture shows light wear with scattered pressure dings and scratches. There are no chips or cracks. The LOP measures 14" from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. This furniture rates in about Very Good condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is mostly bright and the rifling is sharp with light fouling. There is a very minor spot of surface oxidation bore. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 9/10.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 94% of its metal finish. The finish is strong showing light handling wear, scattered freckles of oxidation, and light scratches. The screw heads are unmarred and retain turnable slots. The markings are clear and complete aside from the "MADE IN GERMANY" marking on the receiver. Overall, this rifle rates in about Very Good Plus condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this firearm. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This rifle presents in very strong overall condition, retaining approximately 94% of its original bluing. The metal surfaces show light, even wear consistent with careful use, and the classic Walther sporting lines remain crisp and well defined. The 22" barrel provides a balanced profile and a generous sight radius, contributing to the rifle's refined handling and accuracy oriented character.

Mechanically, the rifle is excellent. The bore rates 9 out of 10, showing good brightness and clearly defined rifling with light wear only. The action functions correctly with smooth bolt travel and positive lockup, reflecting Walther's reputation for precision machining and consistent quality during the postwar period.

Historically, the KKJ Sporter represents Walther's return to high quality sporting rifle production following World War II. These rifles were well regarded for their accuracy, fit, and finish, and imports by Navy Arms helped introduce American shooters to European rimfire craftsmanship during the mid twentieth century. In this level of condition, with strong remaining finish, a good bore, and correct mechanical operation, this KKJ Sporter stands as a desirable and well preserved example of classic Walther rimfire design.
