The old adage goes, “To he who has more, more is given, to he who has less more is taken away.” By the late 19th century, Winchester Repeating Arms was a behemoth of a firearms company, and the sheer number of different cartridges available for their lever action repeaters and single shot rifles, from the powerful .45-70 US Government, to the iconic .44-40 WCF, to the humble .22 rimfire, presented them with a tremendous marketing opportunity. Winchester “bullet boards” displayed the incredible breadth of Winchester’s cartridge lineup, and signaled to customers and competitors alike that whether for hunting, sporting, war, or target shooting, there was hardly a cartridge extant that was outside of Winchester’s realm. This Vintage 1974 Winchester Reproduction Model 1890 Style “Bullet Board” Metal Advertising Sign is in Very Good Condition, with some light scattered scratching, edge nicking, and edge darkening around the front, and with some light overall age wear evident. Most interestingly, it’s one sided, measures 23“ x 15 3/4“, and boasts the classic Model 1890 style “WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO.”, frontier hunting scenes, and “W” bullet design elegantly depicted at front. It’s marked “Reproduced from an 1890 original in the Winchester Museum collection. Copyright Olin Corporation 1974” at the lower middle front, sports a brown cardboard backing, and features a white cotton hanging cord at the upper middle reverse.
