American servicemen returning home in the late 1940s sparked the post-war camping craze. They took to the woods not for sustenance, as their fathers had, but to recapture their youth. This time, they went afield with the best gear money could buy: warm jackets, waterproof boots, Winchester rifles and shotguns, and high quality Western ammunition. This Vintage 1950s Western Super-X Shotgun Shells, .348 Winchester, and .22 LR Ammo Framed Decal Sign is in Very Good Condition, with some light nicking at the bottom left front edge, some light wrinkling at the lower left front, some scattered finish abrading to the front edges of the frame, and with some light overall “browning” and age wear evident. Most interestingly, it remains well mounted in an 11” x 9” black finished metal frame (there’s a small gap between the top and bottom edges of the poster and frame), sports a black cardboard fold-out stand at the back of the frame, and boasts a crisp illustration at front, with a pair of mallard ducks in flight at the upper left front, “Shoot / Western / Super-X & Xpert / AMMUNITION” in red and blue lettering in a yellow sun-like circle at the middle front, and boxes of Super-X shotgun shells, 348 Winchester Silvertip, and .22 Long Rifle ammo depicted at the lower front. This is a unique decal sign made in the USA by “THE PALM BROTHERS DECALCOMANIA CO”, and is so marked on the reverse, along with detailed instructions for applying the sign to a surface.
