The expiration of Smith & Wesson’s patent on the bored-through cylinder in 1869 led Colt to design the revolutionary M-1873 Single Action Army, which soon earned the moniker the “Peacemaker”, “Equalizer”, and “gun that won the West”. Carried by soldiers, lawmen, ranchers, rustlers, cowboys, and outlaws alike, the Colt SAA quickly became synonymous with the untamed wilds of the American West. This Vintage 1940s H.H. Heiser #713 Colt 5.5" SAA Revolver Tooled Leather Pistol Holster is in Excellent Condition, with some scattered “browning” and nicking to the rawhide lacing along the right side of the body, and with some light scattered scratching, darkening, and age wear evident. Most interestingly, it’s crafted in the classic “Mexican double loop” design, with a folded over skirt that also acts as the belt slide, bears incredible hand carved floral tooling all along the front, and is stamped at the bottom front skirt (under the toe) with the classic oval "saddler" style logo of its maker, the famous "H.H. HEISER / MAKER / DENVER, COLO.", along with the model number, "713". The holster is constructed of tough, rigid, yet fairly supple brown saddle leather, features elegant buff colored rawhide leather lacing along the right side of the body, and exhibits a fully functional brown finished brass “glove” snap closure leather top strap. It measures 4“ wide across the top opening, and 9“ long down the straight side, making it ideal for a Colt Model 1873 Single Action Army revolver with a 5.5” barrel, and is a beautiful example of a rare, original Vintage 1940s H.H. Heiser #713 Colt 5.5" SAA Revolver Tooled Leather Pistol Holster.
