During the Great Depression, facing financial pressures, Remington's management offered a controlling interest in the company to E.I. DuPont de Nemours & Company. On May 24, 1933, DuPont purchased a 60% stake in Remington, and any of the Remington advertising pieces from that period usually display the Dupont name as well. This Vintage 1930s Remington Dupont "COME IN AND SHOOT" Bear Themed Oilcloth Advertising Display Banner is in Good Condition, with heavy surface flaking and thinning to the black oilcloth upper half of the banner, a small 3/4” tear in the bottom right edge of the banner, several vertical and horizontal fold lines throughout, moderate scattered brownish and dark soiling at front, and with moderate overall fragility and age wear evident. Most interestingly, it measures 54” x 49”, features brass hanging grommets at the 4 corners, and bears an incredible printed on oilcloth advertisement at front, with “Remington / SPORTING FIREARMS AND AMMUNITION” in large red lettering on a black background at the upper front (the banner rests in such a way that the black upper half was likely rested on a table, and the bottom half left to drape down for display for much of its early life), a fearsome bear charging a checkered plaid jacket wearing, fedora donning hunter shooting a Remington bolt action rifle at the lower left front, “COME IN AND SHOOT” in a black arc on a yellow background at the middle right front, “Remington / SPORTING FIREARMS AND AMMUNITION / DUPONT” in red and black lettering at the lower right front, and “IF IT’S REMINGTON-IT’S RIGHT” in white lettering on a red background across the bottom front. A fine example of a very rare, original Vintage 1930s Remington Dupont "COME IN AND SHOOT" Bear Themed Oilcloth Advertising Display Banner.
