Sights/Optics: There are no iron sights currently mounted. There are two pairs of filled taps on the barrel for mounting iron sights. The top of the receiver has two sections of Weaver rail ready to accept an optic, though none is present.
Grip/Stock Configuration & Condition: The refinished furniture is one piece wood with a straight comb, semi-pistol grip, serrated White-Line buttpad, wide forend, and an accessory rail on the bottom. The LOP measures 13.25" from the face of the trigger to the rear of the butt. There is a hole at the rear of the stock where a sling swivel used to be mounted. The wood shows some scattered pressure dings, minor surface scratches, and old blemishes that have been sanded and finished over. There are no chips or cracks. This furniture rates in Very Good Plus condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp with faint wear. There are some minor tool marks at the muzzle of the bore. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 9/10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 98% of its current metal finish. The current finish only shows some minor blemishes. There is dishing around the taps in the barrel. There are scattered spots of pitting and dings that have been finished over. The screw heads range from unmarred to lightly tooled and remain fully functional. The markings are fairly clear and complete. Overall, this rifle rates in Very Good condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this firearm. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

This rifle retains approximately 98% of its nonoriginal metal finish. There are many older blemishes visible beneath the current finish, indicating moderate wear prior to refinishing. The refinished furniture rates in Very Good Plus condition with clean presentation and solid structure. An SKB hard case is included. Overall, this rifle rates in Very Good condition and stands as a desirable USMC-marked Remington 40-X training rifle from 1958.
