Bore Condition: The bore is bright. The rifling is sharp. There is no erosion. There are a few light tool marks from manufacturing. In this writer's opinion this bore rates 9/10.

Overall Condition: This revolver retains about 97% of its original metal finish. There is light handling and operational wear. There are some light scratches scattered throughout. The color case is vivid showing only very minor wear. The brass shows light tarnish and age darkening. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall this revolver is in Excellent condition.

Our Assessment: The Uberti Model 1849 Pocket is a faithful reproduction of one of Colt’s most successful 19th-century percussion revolvers, combining compact dimensions with a five-shot .31 caliber cylinder and a handy 4" barrel. This 2001 example features the traditional open-top frame, brass trigger guard and backstrap, vivid case colors, and a smooth one-piece walnut grip. Its small size and classic configuration closely reflect the original Pocket model’s role as a convenient personal-defense revolver.

The original Colt Model 1849 Pocket evolved from the earlier Baby Dragoon and became one of the most widely produced percussion revolvers of the era. Its compact size, manageable recoil, and practical five-shot capacity made it popular with civilians, travelers, merchants, and others seeking an easily carried sidearm. Uberti’s reproduction preserves the characteristic styling and operation of the original while providing modern black powder shooters and collectors with an accessible example of this important Colt design.
