Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “SMITH & WESSON .38 S&W SPC. CTG.” The right side of the barrel is blank. The right side of the frame is marked with the Smith & Wesson monogram logo along with “MARCAS REGISTRADAS.” The frame, barrel, and cylinder have matching serial numbers. Additional patent and manufacturer markings are present on the frame under the cylinder yoke.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a round blade integral to the barrel. The rear sight is a square notch milled into the top strap.

Grip Configuration & Condition: The grips are the original round-butt checkered walnut stocks with Smith & Wesson medallions. The checkering remains crisp, and there is no significant wear or damage. The grips rate in Excellent overall condition.

Type of Finish: Blued with Case Colored Hammer and Trigger

Finish Originality: Original

Bore Condition: The bore is bright, the rifling is sharp. There is no visible erosion. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 9/10.

Overall Condition: This revolver retains about 98% of its original metal finish. The only notable finish loss is found on the front of the cylinder over three chambers and a minute hairline area of missing finish on the left side of the muzzle at approximately 4 o’clock. The case coloring on the hammer and trigger is bold and vibrant, and the bluing remains deep and lustrous throughout. The screw heads are sharp. The pins are clean. The markings are crisp and well-defined. Overall, this revolver rates in Excellent condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The cylinder locks up with little play, and the trigger pull is smooth in both single and double action. We did not fire this revolver. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
