Barrel Length: 5”, replaceable compensator (one additional compensator included).

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a serrated ramped blade with a red insert that is pinned to a rise in the barrel’s solid rib; the top of the rib is serrated and matte finished for glare reduction. The rear sight is a flat top square notched leaf in a micrometer-click adjustable base. Under the rear sight base, the topstrap is drilled and tapped for mounting optics (none included). An additional rear sight assembly is included with a shorter notch-leaf.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The grip is a one-piece S&W monogram pebble-textured Hogue Monogrip with finger grooves. The grip has some light scuffs and some light rub wear to the texturing. There are no rips or tears. Overall, the grips are in about Fine-Excellent condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the Electro Chemically Machined rifling is strong. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 10/10.

Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 96% of its metal finish. There are some scattered light nicks, scuffs and swirls from use and storage. The action shows light operational wear and the cylinder has a thin turn-line. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this revolver is in Fine-plus condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This revolver comes in a blue plastic Smith & Wesson case with a serial matching label, an assortment of factory paperwork including manual, key for the frame lock, an additional compensator, an additional rear sight and a cable lock.

Our Assessment: The S&W 460 is built on S&W’s largest frame, the X-Frame, which was developed because none of S&W’s existing double-action frame designs could handle the muzzle energy and pressures generated by the .500 S&W cartridge. The .460 S&W Magnum is essentially a longer and more powerful version of the .454 Casull, itself a lengthened and more powerful .45 Colt. Able to push a 200 grain bullet past 2,300 fps, the .460 S&W is not just one of the most powerful handguns in the world, it also fires at one of the highest velocities of any revolver in the world, allowing for unprecedented penetration when hunting with a revolver. This example has a 5″ barrel with interchangeable muzzle brakes. The overall size is a little big for carry unless you are Arnold in his prime, but if you’re a handgun hunter it should provide for the precision you’ll need for longer shots and this revolver has the power to take any game you want in North America.
