Sights / Optics: The front sight is a blade pinned to a rise in the serrated rib. The rear sight is a square notch Smith & Wesson micrometer sight adjustable for windage and elevation.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are two-piece walnut diamond center target stocks with medallions. The checkering is well defined with light peak wear. There are a few minor handling marks. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the grips are in about Fine condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer's opinion the bore rates 9/10.

Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 99% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish is strong and complete throughout. There is light handling and operational wear. There is a thin crisp turn line on the cylinder that has yet to go through the finish. The markings are clear. The screws are sharp to faintly tool marked with strong slots. Overall, this revolver rates in Excellent condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The lock up is solid on each chamber with faint play. Has an internal lock system. The timing is excellent. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: Smith & Wesson’s large-frame .45 target revolvers descended from the First World War Model 1917 and the postwar Model 1950 Target. The Model 1955 Target introduced a heavier barrel and was originally chambered for .45 ACP, becoming the Model 25 when Smith & Wesson adopted numerical model designations in 1957. Subsequent Model 25 variants extended the platform to .45 Colt, and the modern Classics-series Model 25-15 combines that traditional N-frame profile with contemporary production features.

This modern Model 25-15 is chambered in .45 Colt and configured with a 6 1/2" barrel, adjustable target sights, checkered target stocks, and Smith & Wesson’s internal locking system. It retains about 99% of its original blue finish, with only light handling and operational wear, while its bright 9/10 bore, excellent timing, solid lockup, and correctly functioning action reflect limited use.
