Sights / Optics: The front sights are half-moon blades forged to the barrels. The rear sights are "U"-notches integral to the topstraps.

Stock Configuration & Condition: Ladysmith- The grips are two-piece smooth walnut with custom medallions, the left is a monogram and the right is dated 6/28/'10. The grips have some scattered nicks and scratches, but no notable damage. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the grips are in Very Good condition.

.44 Hand Ejector- The grips are two-piece checkered walnut with S&W medallions and smooth diamonds around the screw escutcheons. The serial number is hand-written on the inside of the right panel. The grips have light handling wear with some scattered nicks and scratches. The right panel has a filled loss at the bottom edge and filled compressions on the bottom face. The checkering is generally well defined. Overall, the grips are in about Very Good condition.

Type of Finish: Blued

Finish Originality: Original, numbered parts match on both revolvers.

Bore Condition: Ladysmith- The bore is mostly bright and the rifling is sharp. There is a patch of light erosion in the top of the bore about mid-way. In this writer's opinion, this bore rates 7+ out of 10.

.44 Hand Ejector- The bore is mostly bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore, but there is a little stubborn fouling. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 9+ out of 10.

Overall Condition: Ladysmith- This handgun retains about 90% of its metal finish. The finish is thinning at most edges. There is some scattered faint oxidation, most notable on the butt. The hammer and trigger have strong case color, the ejector knob is more muted. There are some scattered tiny marks. The action shows light operational wear including a thin turn-line on the cylinder. The screw heads range from sharp to tool marked with strong slots. The markings are clear. Overall, this revolver is in Very Good-plus condition.

.44 Hand Ejector- This revolver retains about 96% of its metal finish. The finish is thinning at some edges. There are infrequent spots of minor surface oxidation with a spot of erosion on the backstrap. There are a few other tiny marks. The action shows light operational wear with a faint turn-line on the cylinder. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this revolver is in Fine-plus condition.

Mechanics: The actions function correctly. We did not fire these handguns. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: Included is a wood presentation case, french-fit for the revolvers and a box of ammunition for each. The ammunition boxes are sealed, we have not inspected the interior. The .44 box appears to be slightly less than half-full. The .22 box feels full.

Our Assessment: This is a beautifully cased set of S&W revolvers with a 3rd Model Ladysmith and a Triple-Lock .44 Hand Ejector. Both revolvers are in great condition, especially for their age, and appear to have been produced around the same time. A vintage box of Remington UMC ammunition is included for each, with the .44 box partial and the .22 appearing to be full. The Ladysmith has been equipped with a custom set of medallions on the grips featuring a monogram and a 1910 date, possibly a birthday, marriage, or anniversary gift. This stunning set will make a beautiful display in any S&W or revolver collection. Each revolver is collectible in its own right, but the presentation of the pair is truly gorgeous.
