Choke: Left- Full, Right- Full, both Fixed.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a beaded blade re-mounted to the front of the rib. There is a u-notch rear sight which flips up when the rifle barrel is selected using the switch on the top tang. The top-rear of the rib has bases for an optic mount, no mount present.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are two piece checkered walnut with splinter forend, capped pistol grip, slightly raised comb with European-style cheekpiece, and serrated black hard rubber buttplate. There is a sling swivel in the belly and another mounted to the bottom of the rifle barrel forward of the forend. The buttstock has minor play to the receiver. The stocks have some scattered nicks, scuffs and scratches, more notable toward the rear of the buttstock. There is a short crack at the rear point of the top tang. The checkering is generally well defined. The LOP measures 14" and 13" from the fronts of the triggers to the back of the buttplate. The plate has scattered light wear with well defined serrations. Overall, the stocks are in Good-plus condition as refinished.

Bore Condition: The shotgun bores are mostly bright with some light erosion toward the muzzle-ends. The rifle bore is semi-bright with sharp rifling. There is scattered light erosion in the rifle bore. In this writer's opinion, the bores rate 7/10.

Overall Condition: This drilling retains about 80% of its metal finish. The finish is thinning at all edges. The barrels have generally strong finish. There is some scratching on the sides of the shotgun barrels at the front scope base. Exposed portions of the receiver have mostly worn to white with minor discoloration from oxidation. There is some good case color on the interior. There are some scattered spots of minor surface oxidation. The action shows operational wear. The screw heads range from sharp to tool marked with strong slots. The markings are generally clear, some of the proofs are worn. Overall, this gun is in Very Good condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We have not fired this drilling. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

This example is a boxlock drilling which has an interesting assortment of features. It is chambered for 16 gauge shotgun shells over a 8x57mmR rifle barrel, suitable for most fowl and terrestrial game found in Europe and here in America. The rifle barrel is selected with a lever on the top tang, automatically raising the rear sight. Each barrel has a cocking indicator on the top tang around the lever.

Despite being nearly 100 years old, the bores are in good shape, the action locks up well, and the gun's impressive assortment of features are still functioning properly. This is a gun which exudes quality, German craftsmanship, utility, and beauty. It is a wonderful example of Krieghoff's work, an impressive piece given the turbulent time and place in which it was made. It will make a great addition to any collection.
