Sights/Optics: The front sight is a beaded post dovetailed into the barrel. The rear sight is an adjustable elevation u-notch screwed into the barrel. There are two drilled, tapped and filled holes at the top-rear of the receiver for a receiver sight, none present.

Grip/Stock Configuration & Condition: The furniture is wood with a straight comb, semi-pistol grip, 38 rib/notch forend, and a checkered aluminum Remington buttplate. The buttplate shows light wear. The stock shows faint wear with a few scattered pressure dings and scratches. The LOP measures 13.75" from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. There are no chips or cracks. This furniture rates in Very Good to Fine condition.

Finish Originality: Original, numbers match.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is fairly sharp. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 9.5/10.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 94% of its metal finish. There is light fading in the bluing, along with scattered surface scratches and freckling. There are operational wear marks from cycling the action. The screw heads are unmarred and retain turnable slots. The markings are clear and complete. Overall, this rifle rates in about Very Good condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this firearm. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This rifle presents in solid overall condition, retaining approximately 98% of its original blue finish. The metal surfaces are deep and even with only light handling evidence, and the rifle retains matching numbered parts, an important point of originality and collector appeal. The stock and fore end show clean lines and finish, giving the rifle a crisp, well preserved appearance that reflects careful ownership.

Mechanically, the rifle is great. The bore rates 9.5 out of 10 with bright steel and sharp rifling, indicating very light use. The action functions correctly and delivers the smooth, positive pump stroke for which the Fieldmaster line is well known. The 25" barrel provides a long sight radius and steady handling characteristics, well suited to deliberate shooting and small game use.

Historically, the Model 121 Fieldmaster represents Remington's premium slide action rimfire of the postwar era, positioned above utility models with higher finish quality and refined handling. A 1949 production example captures the mature form of the design at a time when American rimfire craftsmanship was at a high point. In this level of condition, with strong original finish, an excellent bore, and matching numbers, this rifle stands as a highly desirable and collectible representative of Remington's classic rimfire lineage.
