Sights/Optics: There is no provision for iron sights. There is a Tasco 6-24x40mm scope mounted atop the receiver with duplex reticle. The glass is clear and the scope rates in Very Good condition.

Grip/Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is wood, the buttstock has a raised comb with cheekpiece, skip-line checkered semi-pistol grip and forend, and checkered plastic buttplate. The forend and grip are capped. There are sling studs front and rear. The buttplate shows light wear. The furniture shows light wear with some scattered pressure dings and scuffs. Most notable is three small scuffs between the rear sling swivel and the buttplate. The LOP measures 13.5" from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. There are no chips or cracks. This furniture rates in Very Good to Fine condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp with stubborn fouling. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 9/10.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 98% of its metal finish. The finish shows a few light scuffs and scratches, but nothing notable. The screw heads are lightly tooled and retain strong slots. The markings are clear and complete. Overall, this rifle rates in about Fine condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this firearm. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This is a high condition, accuracy focused varmint rifle that presents exceptionally well, retaining approximately 98% of its original blue finish. The heavy barrel gives the rifle its deliberate, bench oriented profile and contributes to stable harmonics and repeatable point of impact. The BDL trim provides the upgraded presentation expected of this model, with refined stock lines and a polished overall appearance that elevates it above standard sporter configurations.

Mechanically, the rifle is excellent. The bore rates 9 out of 10 with strong rifling and good brightness, indicating light use and careful maintenance. The action functions correctly with smooth bolt travel and solid lockup, reflecting the reliability and consistency that made the Model 700 a benchmark bolt action of its era.

The included Tasco scope offers a wide magnification range suitable for varmint and precision work, while the Harris bipod adds practical stability for bench or field supported shooting. Together, these accessories create a ready to use varmint setup that complements the rifle's intended role.
