Rare Lange & Söhne WWII German Luftwaffe Pilots B-Uhr Type B Wristwatch

This a WWII era Lange & Söhne German-made B-Uhr 1940s wristwatch. The German Luftwaffe commissioned five companies to build watches for its pilots and navigators: IWC, Laco, Stowa, Wempe and A. Lange & Söhne. This watch is in Very Good to Fine overall condition, showing light handling marks, brown residue and discoloration in a few areas and some small chips in the finish. The leather strap is in Great shape. This timepiece still functions, hand-wound movements with center seconds, and distinctive and large legible dial markings. This huge 55mm cased watch could be easily read in the dark cockpit of a bomber plane, and it can be worn over the flying suit sleeve for ease of use. It also has a large 'onion' style crown, that also allows the person wearing it to handle the crown easily whilst wearing gloves. The watch comes attached on a double-riveted, extra-long leather strap to accommodate the wrist area of a bulky flight suit. The left side of the watch is marked "Fl 23883" and the back is marked "211108". A nicely preserved and Rare piece of aviation history that will go well in any military or watch collection.
