Markings: The tang is marked “B3493”.The top of the barrel is marked “Shiloh-Sharps Model 1874” and “CALIBRE 45 / 27/8”. The left side of the receiver is marked “SHILOH RIFLE MFG. CO. BIG TIMBER, MONTANA.”. The bottom of the barrel under the forend is marked "B3493 45110 DDB".

Barrel Length: 30” Heavy Octagon barrel. The rifle weighs 12lbs 6OZ.

Sights / Optics: This rifle is mounted with a silver blade front sight. The rear sight is a long base full buckhorn sight. The upper tang is drilled, tapped and plugged for a tang sight.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The furniture is a two piece smooth “Fancy” walnut. The forend is the Gemmer style with silver tip, twin wedges with escutcheons, and entry pipe for the rod. The stock is a straight hand, straight comb with cheekpiece stock with a crescent case colored smooth butt plate. The length of pull is 14.5" from the front trigger to the inside curve of the butt plate. The wood shows minor scattered lines and compressions. There is a notable nick in the stock just to the left of the rear lower tang screw. The forend tip shows some very fine lines common with this type of finish. The butt plate shows virtually no marks or wear. There are no chips or cracks. Overall the furniture set is in about Excellent condition.

Finish Originality: Original

Bore Condition: The bore is mirror bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no visible erosion. There is a small spot of lead fouling in the last third of the bore. In this writer's opinion the bore rates 9.75/10.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains 99% of its finish. The barrel shows some very minor scattered marks. The action has a small scratch on the left side and some fine lines just in front of the block. The lower tang has a small mark from the lever. The markings are clear and the screw heads are sharp. Overall this rifle is in about Excellent condition.

Mechanics: This rifle has double set triggers, which function correctly. The action functions correctly. We have not fired this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
