Sights / Optics: The front sight is a blade fixed to the barrel. The rear sight is a square notch in the top strap.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are two-piece checkered hard rubber with "US" in oval at their tops. The grips have no notable wear or damage, only light handling marks. The checkering is well defined. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the grips are in Excellent condition.

Type of Finish: Armory Blue & Case Color

Finish Originality: Original, number matching parts.

Bore Condition: The bore is mostly bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 10/10.

Overall Condition: This revolver retains about 98% of its metal finish. There are a few light scratches on the trigger guard. Otherwise, there are only light handling marks. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this revolver is in Excellent condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this revolver. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This revolver comes in a hinge-lid cardboard USFA box with black exterior, green interior, serial-matching label, factory paperwork including manual, aftermarket .45 Colt cylinder and a blue cloth USFA pouch.

Our Assessment: Colt’s Model 1873, the Single Action Army, is the "gun that won the west", perhaps the most iconic handgun of all time. For nearly 150 years, the gun has been produced in a variety of configurations, finishes and calibers. This revolver is the absolute closest to a Colt you can get without a pony on the side. This USFA is a rather rare example, termed the "Lend-Lease". Interestingly, it is actually based on a revolver ordered from Colt by an American officer who wanted one chambered for the military's .45 ACP cartridge.

Fewer than 30 of these revolvers were produced, each with a 5 1/2" barrel, beautiful blue and case color finish, and even a casehardened lanyard ring on the butt. This example is still in quite excellent condition, appearing to have spent more time in its included box than out. It is a beautiful piece and of particular special interest to the USFA collectors.
