Sights/Optics: There is no provision for iron sights. There is a Bushnell Sportview 4-12x scope with duplex reticle mounted atop the receiver with Ruger rings. The glass is clear and the scope rates in Very Good condition.

Grip/Stock Configuration & Condition: The refinished stock is one piece checkered wood with a capped semi-pistol grip, straight comb, Ruger rubber buttpad and sling studs front and rear. The recoil pad shows expected wear for its age. The furniture shows light wear with infrequent pressure dings and scuffs. There are no chips or cracks in the wood. This furniture rates in Very Good condition.

Type of Finish: Blued

Finish Originality: Some wear spots on the barrel have been touched up with cold blue

Bore Condition: The bore is mostly bright and the rifling is sharp. The barrel is bulged just before the end of the bore. There is light pitting at the end of the bore where bulged. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 6/10.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 90% of its metal finish. The receiver is turning to plum. The finish shows light edge wear, some touched up spots of oxidation and wear, and a few other minor blemishes. The markings are clear and complete. The screw heads range from lightly to moderately tooled and retain turnable slots. Overall, this rifle rates in about Very Good condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this firearm. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This Ruger M77 Tang Safety Model dates to 1977 and represents one of the most respected iterations of Ruger's original bolt action sporting rifle. The tang-mounted safety places it squarely within the classic American hunting rifle tradition of the late twentieth century, when Ruger emphasized robust construction, practical accuracy, and field reliability. 

Chambered in 7mm Remington Magnum with a 24" barrel, this rifle is well suited to the cartridge's flat trajectory and long-range capability. Introduced in 1962, the 7mm Remington Magnum quickly earned favor among hunters for its combination of velocity, manageable recoil, and excellent ballistic efficiency. This example is fitted with a Bushnell Sportview variable power scope offering 4 to 12 power magnification, an optic that complements the rifle's intended role as a versatile big game hunting platform.

Condition remains strong, with approximately 90% of the metal finish intact and a matching bolt present. The stock has been refinished and worn areas touched up with cold blue, giving it a refreshed appearance while maintaining the rifle's classic lines. The bore rates 6 out of 10, mostly due to a bulge at the muzzle-end, the action functions correctly.
