Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “FORESTER MADE IN FINLAND” The right side of the barrel is marked “BOFORS STEEL” The top of the barrel is marked “SAKO CAL 308” The left side of the receiver is marked “L579 NO 53475”. The trigger and floorplate have decorative silver inlay with a “Sakolope” on the floorplate.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a blade dovetailed into a serrated ramp with a protective hood. There is no rear sight, by design, on this rifle.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is one-piece skip-line checkered wood with rosewood nosecap, capped pistol grip with tree-shaped inlay, monte carlo comb with cheekpiece, ventilated brown rubber Sako recoil pad and sling swivels front and rear. The LOP is 13 3/4” from the front of the trigger to the back of the pad. There are some scattered minor scuffs and small scratches. There are no chips or cracks. The stock rates in excellent overall condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright. The rifle is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore. There is some light fouling in the bore. In this writer’s opinion the bore rates 9/10.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 98% of its metal finish. The hinged floorplate and trigger guard are engraved. There are some light scratches on the barrel and receiver. The screwheads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle is in excellent condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Our Assessment: This Sako Deluxe Forester L579 Rifle is one of the prettiest bolt action rifles I have come across. From the rosewood accents to the silver inlays, this is a stunning rifle. Chambered in .308 it is fantastic for taking down deer and antelope. If you are looking for a beautiful hunting rifle, this is an excellent choice.
