Sights/Optics: The front sight is a beaded post dovetailed into the barrel. The rear sight is a u-notch adjustable for elevation dovetailed into the barrel. The receiver is grooved for an optic, though none is present.

Grip/Stock Configuration & Condition: The refinished furniture is two piece wood with a straight comb, semi-pistol grip, smooth forend, and a checkered metal buttplate. The buttplate shows minimal wear. The furniture shows a few pressure dings and some imperfections in the finish coating itself. There is a chip starting at the top of the butt where it meets the buttplate. The LOP measures 13.25" from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The furniture rates in Very Good condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is faint erosion at the muzzle end of the bore. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 8/10.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 98% of its original metal finish. The finish is very strong showing only infrequent surface scratches and a couple very faint spots of oxidation. The screw heads show little to no tooling and retain turnable slots. The markings are clear and complete. Overall, this rifle rates in Very Good Plus condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this firearm. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This postwar Winchester Model 63, serial number 158561A, was manufactured in 1957 and qualifies as a Curio and Relic rifle. Produced by Winchester during the final years of Model 63 production, this rifle represents one of the last iterations of Winchester's long-running semi-automatic tube-fed rimfire line. By the mid-1950s, the Model 63 had become a mature and highly refined sporting rifle.

Chambered in .22 Long Rifle with a 23 inch barrel, this rifle retains approximately 98% of its original bluing and features matching numbered parts. The receiver is factory grooved for optic mounting, though no optic is currently installed. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 8 out of 10, showing wear consistent with it's age. The action functions correctly.

The furniture was refinished and currently rates in Very Good condition with solid structure and few handling marks. Overall, this rifle retains about 98% of its original metal finish and rates in Very Good Plus condition. It stands as a clean and late-production example of a 1957 Winchester Model 63.
