Sights/Optics: The front sight is a beaded post dovetailed into the barrel. The rear sight is an adjustable elevation u-notch dovetailed into the barrel. 

Grip/Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock has had a new coat of finish applied, but was not sanded. The stock is wood with a straight comb, straight-wrist grip, 17 rib forend, and a checkered hard-rubber Winchester buttplate. The buttplate shows light wear mainly around the edges. The furniture shows light wear with a few pressure dings and drag lines. The LOP measures 13.25" from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. There are no chips or cracks. This furniture rates in Fine condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp with faint fouling. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 9.5/10.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 98% of its metal finish. The receiver shows light wear with infrequent freckling. There is very light finish loss on the magazine tube from operation. The bolt shows light operational wear. The barrel only shows a few minor spots of freckling and finish loss where the forend rubs while cycling the action. The screw heads show light tooling and retain strong slots. The markings are clear and complete. Overall, this rifle rates in about Fine Plus condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this firearm. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This is an exceptional postwar example of Winchester's classic slide action rimfire, retaining approximately 98% of its original blue finish. The metal surfaces remain deep and even with only minimal handling evidence, and the rifle retains matching numbered parts, an important point of originality and collector appeal. The stock and forend present cleanly with correct contours, giving the rifle a crisp, well preserved appearance.

Mechanically, the rifle is excellent. The bore rates 9.5 out of 10, showing bright steel and sharp rifling with very light wear. The action functions correctly and delivers the smooth, positive pump stroke that made the Model 62A one of the most respected rimfire rifles of the mid twentieth century. The 23" barrel provides a balanced sporting profile and an excellent sight radius, well suited to deliberate and accurate rimfire shooting.

Historically, the Model 62A represents the refined evolution of Winchester's pump rimfire line in the postwar era, benefiting from decades of production improvements. A 1952 production example in this level of condition is increasingly difficult to find and stands as a highly desirable representative of Winchester's golden age of rimfire craftsmanship.
