Original 1943 WWII U.S. Navy Ordnance Propaganda Poster – "Put them across! / The Toughest Job is Still Ahead!" 28.5" X 40" Poster

An intense, action-driven original World War II home front industrial incentive poster designed by noted American illustrator and Naval officer John Falter. The powerful composition depicts a gritty line of fully equipped American soldiers boarding a military transport vessel, with a resolute soldier in the foreground holding a rifle and steering his gaze toward the mission ahead. In the upper left background, the silhouetted bow of a massive transport ship dominates the harbor.

The center of the poster features a prominent graphic overlay styled as an official "U.S. Navy Dispatch". It bears an urging message to defense workers from Admiral Ernest J. King, Commander in Chief of the U.S. Fleet, reading: "TO FELLOW AMERICANS ASHORE: Lets waste no time... Put them across with ships, planes and guns... stay on the job and deliver the goods... Gangway for Victory." This oversized "One-Sheet" poster was distributed to shipyards and military manufacturing plants to emphasize the vital connection between factory production and front-line deployment.

Offered in its original, unbacked state, showing the authentic factory fold lines as issued by the Government Printing Office in 1943. The 28.5" X 40" poster displays light, honest age-toning along the fold creases and margins, completely standard for 1940s war-era paper stocks. The color registry remains remarkably bold and sharp, with the deep blues and oranges showing minimal fade. The piece is currently presented flat, shrink-wrapped to a protective foam board core for stability and presentation. Minor handling creases and trivial edge wear are present under the wrap. Not examined out of shrink wrap, but visually grades as a strong, highly displayable, and collectible historic example.
