Sights/Optics: The front sight is a bladed post dovetailed into a base between two protective wings. The aftermarket rear sight is a fully adjustable Parker Hale aperture sight screwed into the left side of the receiver.
Grip/Stock Configuration & Condition: The three piece wood furniture has a straight wrist grip with finger groove, nose cap, two barrel bands, two sling loops, and a zinc alloy buttplate with a hinged door for storage. The compartment is empty. The buttplate has moderate handling wear with scuffs and scratches present. The wood shows pressure dings, scuffs, and scratches throughout. There is a rack mark "67" on the forend. The furniture has the correct Long Branch and Canadian cartouches. The LOP measures 13 3/4" from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The furniture rates in Very Good condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is semi-bright and the two-groove rifling is sharp with light fouling. There is light erosion throughout the bore. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 7.5/10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 75% of its metal finish. The finish shows edge wear, rub marks, minor scratches, and general operational wear. The screw heads range from unmarred to lightly tooled and retain turnable slots. The markings are clear and complete. All markings are correct for being a Canadian service rifle issued to New Zealand. Overall, this rifle rates in Very Good condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this firearm. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Small Arms Limited at Long Branch, Ontario became one of the major Commonwealth producers of the No.4 rifle during World War II, supplying Canadian forces and later allied nations. This example, serial number 14L1828, was produced by Long Branch and retains matching serialized components. The rifle also bears a New Zealand acceptance mark and serial number, documenting later Commonwealth service use. It remains in military configuration aside from the installation of a Parker Hale adjustable aperture rear sight. This rear sight was commonly put on DCRA competition rifles.
