Sights / Optics: The front sight is a short blade in the center of a shallow “U” channel that runs along the top of the slide. The rear sight is a square notch dovetailed into the slide. The top of the slide has a matte finish to reduce glare.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are checkered walnut with smooth borders and a flat finish to the tops of the checkering as they came from the factory. There is little to no handling wear with only a few minor compressions. There are no chips or cracks. The checkering is intact and strong. The grips rate in about Excellent overall condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is mirror-bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer's opinion the bore rates 10/10.
Overall Condition: This pistol retains about 99% of its metal finish. There are a few infrequent light marks from storage. There is little to no operational or handling wear. There is faint thinning on the high edge of the safety, likely from storage wear. The grip screws are sharp and the markings are clear. Overall, this pistol rates in about Excellent condition.
Mechanics: Once the slide is locked back and the magazine is removed, the slide falls automatically when the magazine is re-inserted, this is the proper function of the action. The action functions correctly. We did not fire this pistol. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: The Mauser HSc was developed before World War II as Mauser's answer to compact double-action pistols such as the Walther PP and PPK, entering production in 1940 and serving with German military and police organizations during the war. After limited French-controlled production immediately following the war, Mauser revived the HSc at Oberndorf for commercial production from 1968 through 1977, with substantial numbers exported to the United States through Interarms. Postwar pistols retained the HSc's distinctive streamlined profile, concealed-hammer DA/SA mechanism, and fixed-barrel blowback action while being offered in both .32 ACP and .380 ACP. This 1970 .32 ACP example represents the early portion of that revived West German commercial production.
This pistol is exceptionally well preserved, retaining approximately 99% of its original blue finish with only a few minor storage marks and virtually no operational wear. The checkered walnut grips remain Excellent, while the mirror-bright bore has sharp rifling and no erosion, rating 10/10. The action functions correctly, including the characteristic HSc feature in which insertion of a magazine releases the locked-open slide. Its two magazines, box, bore brush, manual, and dated factory test target make this a notably complete example, while the target provides particularly useful documentation for its 1970 production date. For the Mauser collector, this is a handsome and unusually complete postwar HSc in the model's original 7.65mm chambering and outstanding surviving condition.
