Sights/Optics: The front sight is a hooded beaded blade dovetailed into a serrated base screwed into the barrel. The rear sight is an adjustable elevation u-notch dovetailed into the barrel. There is a weaver base screwed into the top of the receiver and a Weaver K4-1 scope is mounted. The glass is clear and the scope rates in Very Good condition.
Grip/Stock Configuration & Condition: The refinished furniture is two piece wood with a straight wrist grip, straight comb, smooth forend, and checkered synthetic buttplate. The buttplate has light handling wear. The furniture shows only a few minor pressure dings and sanding marks. The wood on both sides of the tang where it meets the receiver has chipped off and been sanded. The LOP measures 13.25" from the face of the trigger to the butt. The furniture rates in Very Good Plus condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 10/10.
Overall Condition: This firearm retains about 96% of its original metal finish. The finish shows some small spots of surface oxidation and light scratches. The screw heads show light tooling and retain turnable slots. The markings are clear and complete. Overall, this firearm rates in Very Good Plus condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this firearm. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This Marlin Original Golden 39M was manufactured in 1973 and qualifies as a Curio and Relic rifle. Produced by Marlin Firearms, the 39M was the compact Mountie variant of the legendary Model 39 series, offering the same smooth lever action and takedown design in a handier 20 inch configuration. The Model 39 family is widely recognized as one of the finest and longest-running lever-action rimfire designs in American firearms history.
