Sights / Optics: The front sight is a blade pinned to a raised block fixed to the barrel. The rear sight is a ladder sight which presents a fixed u-notch when down and a v-notch sliding leaf when up, dovetailed to the barrel. The top of the tang is drilled, tapped, and filled.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are two piece smooth walnut with a straight grip, straight comb, steel curved buttplate, and a banded forend. There are no cracks. There is an empty sling stud hole in the belly of the buttstock. There are scattered scratches, nicks, and compressions. The LOP measures 13 1/4" from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The plate has largely worn to white with scattered oxidation. The stocks rate in about Good overall condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion. In this writer's opinion the bore rates 9/10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 40% of its metal finish. Most of the case color has muted with some figuring preserved in the protected areas. There is intermittent oxidation. The balance of the barrel and magtube is very strong. The screw heads are sharp to tool marked with serviceable slots. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle rates in about Very Good condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The hammer has a half-cock safety. The trigger is light and crisp. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: The Marlin Model 1893 was one of the company’s landmark lever-action designs, introduced during the height of the American repeating rifle era and built around a strong solid-frame action capable of handling popular hunting cartridges of the period. Chambered in cartridges such as the .32 Winchester Special, .30-30 Winchester, and .38-55, the Model 1893 became a respected sporting rifle used throughout North America. While most examples were produced in traditional sporting configurations, short-barreled rifles such as this 15" barreled example are exceptionally uncommon and represent a unique chapter in the history of Marlin lever actions.
This Marlin Model 93 is a distinctive short-barreled configuration featuring a 15" round barrel, full-length tubular magazine, original blued and case colored finish, and classic walnut furniture. It retains approximately 40% of its original finish with muted case color remaining in protected areas, strong barrel and magazine tube finish, clear markings, and a bright bore with sharp rifling.
