Sights / Optics: The front sight is a ramped blade dovetailed to the front of the barrel. The rear sight is a square notch dovetailed to the slide. The top of the barrel has an integral rail for optics (none present).

Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are two-piece pebble-textured black rubber with eagle logos, which wraps around the backstrap. There are no major defects, just light handling marks. The texturing is strong. Overall, the grips are in about Excellent condition.

Type of Finish: Black Oxide

Finish Originality: Original

Bore Condition: The bore is semi-bright with well-defined polygonal rifling. There is no erosion in the bore, but there is scattered stubborn fouling. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 8+/10.

Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 97% of its metal finish. There are a few minor scuffs and small scratches. The action shows very minor operational wear. The screw heads range from sharp to tool marked with strong slots. The markings are strong. Overall, this handgun rates in Fine-plus condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This pistol comes in a black plastic Magnum Research case with serial-matching label, manual (paper and digital), 5 in 1 cleaning tool, cable lock, and a single 7-round magazine.

Our Assessment: The Desert Eagle is a fascinating pistol that incorporates a gas-piston and rotating multi-lug bolt system into a big-bore semi-automatic pistol. Its all steel construction is at once absurdly heavy and necessary as it will help dampen recoil and stop the reciprocation of the large mass of its slide from whipping the pistol out of your grip. With the solid lockup of a rotating multi-lug bolt and more than 8" sight radius, this pistol would be at home hunting, at the silhouette range, or just informal target shooting with your range buddies. This particular example, a MK XIX, is in Fine-plus condition with a strong bore and solid mechanics. It may be a little unwieldy for home defense, but it’ll put the fear of God into any intruders. Despite some saying there’s no use for the Desert Eagle, it never seems to drop in popularity be it in Hollywood, video games, or in the shooting community in general.
