Sights/Optics: The front sight is a beaded blade dovetailed into base fixed to the barrel. The rear sight is a fully adjustable u-notch screwed into the barrel. The receiver is drilled, tapped, and filled.

Grip/Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is one piece wood with a checkered semi-pistol grip, checkered forend, and a ventilated rubber recoil pad. There is light wear present with a few pressure dings and scratches. There are no chips or cracks. This furniture rates in Very Good to Fine condition.

Type of Finish: Blued

Finish Originality: Original, serial matching bolt.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp with light fouling. There is very light oxidation near the muzzle end, but no erosion in the bore. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 8.5/10.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 98% of its metal finish. The bolt spacer is missing its retaining screw, the spacer spins freely on the bolt body when the action is open. There is light wear present with scattered surface scratches, wear marks, and freckling. The markings are clear and complete. The screw heads show little to no tooling and retain turnable slots. Overall, this rifle rates in about Good condition, see Mechanics.

Mechanics: There is a missing retainer screw on the bolt spacer. The spacer can now spin freely and fall off. The action otherwise functions correctly. We did not fire this firearm. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This rifle presents in solid overall condition, retaining approximately 98% of its original finish. The metal surfaces are clean and evenly preserved with only light handling evidence, and the stock maintains correct contours and finish. The bolt is matching, an important point of originality, and the left handed configuration adds additional appeal for southpaw shooters seeking a factory correct setup.

Mechanically, the bolt is missing the retaining screw for its spacer, the spacer can turn freely. The action otherwise functions correctly and the action cycles smoothly with the strong lockup and consistent bolt travel for which the Model 111 is known. The bore rates 8.5 out of 10, showing good brightness and defined rifling with moderate, expected wear. The 22" barrel provides a balanced sporting profile and allows the .223 Remington cartridge to perform efficiently.

The rifle has a long action with spacers on the bolt and in the magazine for use with its short action cartridge. The spacer on the bolt is missing a retaining screw this missing component should be replaced to ensure proper function.

As a 1995 production left handed Model 111 with strong remaining finish, a matching bolt, good bore condition, and a clearly disclosed minor parts deficiency, this rifle stands as a solid and desirable bolt action sporting rifle with excellent potential once the missing bolt spacer screw is addressed.
