This lot features a classic Western leather Iver Johnson holster and an unmarked cartridge belt. While best known for their revolvers and bicycles, Iver Johnson also produced and marketed leather accessories during the late 19th and early 20th centuries to complement the widespread use of single action revolvers in the American West. Mexican loop holsters such as this example were a widely used design that allowed the holster body to pass through slots in the skirt, creating a strong and secure mounting method while also offering distinctive Western styling.

The holster is configured to fit a Colt Single Action Army revolver with a 7 1/2 inch barrel. It is mounted on a leather cartridge belt fitted with forty one cartridge loops sized for .45 Colt ammunition. The belt is equipped with a brass buckle that shows visible verdigris consistent with age and exposure. The belt measures approximately 32 1/2 inches from the closest hole to the point where the leather meets the buckle and approximately 36 inches from the far hole. The leather shows expected handling wear and age toning but remains structurally sound with intact cartridge loops and a functional holster configuration.

Holster and cartridge belt rigs such as this were standard working gear for ranchers, cowboys, and lawmen across the American West.
