Sights / Optics: There is a white front bead and a smaller white mid bead. The top of the rib is finely checkered for glare reduction.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are two-piece checkered walnut with fleur-de-lis accents, triangle ebony tip in the beavertail forend, capped pistol grip, straight comb, ventilated black rubber Pachmayr White Line recoil pad, and a copper-colored initial plate in the belly engraved with "MMC" monogram. There is a small loss at the top-rear corner of the forend on the right. There are a few tiny cracks around the front edges of the wrist. There are some scattered light nicks and scratches. The checkering is well defined. The LOP measures 13 3/8" from the front of the trigger to the back of the pad, 12 3/8" to the back of the wood. The pad has light wear and has remained fairly supple. Overall, the stocks are in Very Good condition.

Type of Finish: Blue & Case Color

Finish Originality: Original, numbered parts match.

Bore Condition: The bore is semi-bright. There is some light erosion and infrequent minor pitting in the bore. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 7+ out of 10.

Overall Condition: This shotgun retains about 92% of its metal finish. The receiver has generally strong case color with some muting and handling wear toward the bottom-front and on the top tang. The guard shows handling wear going to a light patina. The finish is thinning at most edges. There is infrequent minor surface oxidation. There are a few light nicks, scuffs and small scratches. The action shows light operational wear. The screw heads are tool marked with strong slots. The markings are clear, some serial markings have the second "2" stamped over a "1". Overall, this shotgun rates in Very Good condition.

Mechanics: The action including ejector functions correctly. We have not fired this shotgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: ‘Flues’ shotguns were named after the designer, Emil Flues, and the Single Barrel Trap guns built using his design started Ithaca's long tradition of making quality SBTs. This shotgun was made in 1915 and still looks quite nice. Not content with just being beautiful and handcrafted, the Flues were fantastic trap guns. This grade 4-E has beautiful early-style engraving with game bird and waterfowl scenes on the receiver flats, surrounded by beautiful foliate scroll and border patterns. This shotgun is an essential part of any Ithaca collection and it should still be a wonderful trap gun. They, quite literally, don’t make them like this anymore. Please see our photos and good luck!
