Grip/Stock Configuration & Condition: The furniture is two-piece checkered wood with a semi-pistol grip, cheekpiece, initial plate in the belly marked "TG", and a smooth Winchester buttpad. The furniture shows a few minor drag lines and pressure dings. There are several fine cracks in the forend. The checkering is well defined. The LOP measures 13" and 12" from the fronts of the triggers to the back of the buttpad. The butt has light handling wear. Drop at comb is approximately 1.5", drop at heel 2.625". Overall, the stocks are in Very Good condition.

Bore Condition: The bores are semi-bright with light streaking. There are spots of light pitting throughout the bore. In this writer’s opinion, the bores rate 6 out of 10.
Overall Condition: This shotgun retains about 60% of its metal finish. The barrel finish is fairly strong with scattered scratches and rub marks from the heat shield. The receiver case color has faded and much of it is now in the white. The screw heads range from unmarred to lightly tooled and retain turnable slots. The markings and rose and scroll engravings are clear and complete. Overall, this shotgun is in Good to Very Good condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The barrels lock to the receiver with no play. The safety engages automatically when the barrel set is opened. We did not fire this firearm. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This Ignacio Ugartechea Hammerless Sidelock was manufactured in 1963 and qualifies as a Curio and Relic firearm. Produced in Eibar, Spain, Ugartechea shotguns are known for traditional Basque gunmaking, classic sidelock construction, and graceful handling. Chambered in the desirable 20 Gauge, this example offers the light, lively feel that has long made small-bore Spanish doubles popular for upland hunting and sporting use.
Chambered for 20 Gauge 2.75" shells with 27.625" barrels, both barrels measure Improved Cylinder, providing an open and versatile choke arrangement particularly well suited for close-cover birds and fast shooting. A slip-on heat shield is included for shooters who prefer to grasp the barrels forward of the forend. In this writer's opinion, the bores rate 6 out of 10, showing moderate to heavy wear with usable remaining condition. The action functions correctly.
