Sights / Optics: The front sight is a tall quarter-moon blade fixed to the barrel. The rear sight is a rectangular notch dovetailed to the slide.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The grip is a single piece checkered polymer. There are light handling marks throughout. There are no chips or cracks. The checkering is well defined. Overall, the grips are in about Fine condition.

Type of Finish: Blue

Finish Originality: Original, the slide is serial-matching.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion the bore rates 10/10.

Overall Condition: This pistol retains about 98% of its metal finish. There are some scattered handling marks throughout. There are some faint spots of thinning. The screw heads range from sharp to lightly tool marked with strong slots. The markings are clear. Overall, this pistol is in Excellent condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this pistol. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This pistol comes with a single 10-round Hi-Standard magazine and a two-piece blue and yellow cardboard High Standard box with the serial number hand-written on the end.

Our Assessment: High Standard had a long history of manufacturing target pistols going back to before WWII, so they had lots of time to perfect the design. The Dura-Matic was designed as a low cost pistol with a totally different frame than was used on the higher priced target models. After it was introduced in 1954, hence its M-101 designation, it soon displaced the Sport King as the volume leader. It was produced into the 1970’s, surviving most of its privileged contemporaries, attesting to its popularity. The pistol has fixed sights and a 6 1/2" barrel, with a one-piece grip that encloses the entire grip frame. This pistol is in about Fine condition with 98% of its original finish remaining. The bore is bright with sharp rifling and no erosion. This pistol will be of interest to collectors and shooters alike. It is no doubt better made than most of the sport model pistols made today, and with its nice bore, this should last for another 50 years. Please see our photos and good luck!
