Manufactured at the Frankford Arsenal in 1878, this 12-round packet of .45 caliber revolver ammunition was adopted for use in both the Colt Model 1873 and the Smith & Wesson Model 1875 Schofield. With the introduction of the Schofield Revolver in 1875, this shorter cartridge could be used in both the Colt and Schofield (with its shorter cylinder) and thus simplified the process of issuing ammunition.
This “collector wrapped” package is in Very Good condition, still sealed and with the pull string still intact. The label is complete and fully legible, with some yellowing of the label. Overall a very nice, solid box.
