Sights/Optics: The front sight is a blade pinned to a slotted base fixed to the front of the barrel, adjustable for elevation. The rear sight is a u-notch dovetailed and screw-set to the rear of the slide, adjustable for windage.
Grip/Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are two piece checkered wood panels. The backstrap is checkered. The panels show light handling wear and a few small pressure dings. There are no chips or cracks. The grips rate in Very Good Plus condition.

Finish Originality: Nonoriginal, there are spots of cold blue touch-up
Bore Condition: The bore is mostly bright and the rifling is sharp with stubborn fouling. There is light erosion throughout the bore. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 8/10.
Overall Condition: This firearm retains about 70% of its nonoriginal metal finish. The finish shows edge wear, scratches, spots of cold blue, and light spots of pitting. The markings are clear and complete. Overall, this firearm rates in Very Good condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this firearm. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This early four-digit Colt Woodsman Target Model 1st Series was manufactured in 1919 and qualifies as a Curio and Relic firearm. Introduced by Colt in 1915 and designed by John M. Browning, the Woodsman quickly established itself as one of the finest .22 caliber target pistols ever produced. The First Series remained in production until 1947 and is especially prized for its elegant lines, superb craftsmanship, and excellent trigger. Early four-digit examples from the first years of production are particularly desirable to Colt collectors due to their place in the model's developmental history.
Chambered in .22 Long Rifle, the Woodsman was designed for target shooting, small game hunting, and informal competition. Its slim profile, natural pointability, and exceptional accuracy made it a favorite among sportsmen and competitive shooters for decades. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 8 out of 10, indicating good rifling with honest use. The action functions correctly.
The grips rate in Very Good Plus condition with light handling wear consistent with age. This pistol retains approximately 70% of its non-original metal finish, with scattered areas of cold blue touch-up visible.
