Markings: Standard markings with offset proofs to accommodate the mounting of the scope.

Barrel Length: 25 1/4” Measured. 25” Nominal.

Sights/Optics: No provision for iron sights. The rifle is factory mounted with Winchester rings and an unmarked 2 3/4X A5 brass scope. The scope has about 90% finish and is just a bit cloudy.

Stock Configuration and Condition: The stock is one piece oiled smooth walnut with semi-pistol grip, straight comb, and Winchester checkered composite buttplate. The magazine release button is located in a circular cutout in the left side of the stock. The LOP measures 13 5/8” from the front of the trigger to the rear of the buttplate. There are no chips or cracks. There is light handling wear with a few compressions and scratches held more prominently on the belly. The buttplate shows some light handling wear all around. Overall, the stock rates in Fine Plus condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion. In this writer’s opinion the bore rates 10/10.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 80% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish shows light operational wear. There is some thinning on the leading edges. There is oxidation throughout the barrel. The screw heads are sharp to tool marked. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle rates in Excellent condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We have not fired this rifle. As with all used firearms, thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: The Winchester Model 69 was one of the company’s most successful and accessible bolt-action rimfire rifles, produced from 1935 to 1963. Known for its excellent accuracy, robust design, and smooth handling, the Model 69 became a staple for target shooters, small game hunters, and American youth learning to shoot. This particular example stands out for being one of the desirable factory-scoped variants, which lacked provisions for iron sights and featured offset proof marks to accommodate the pre-installed optics—an uncommon and highly collectible configuration among Model 69 rifles.

This rifle retains approximately 80% of its original finish, with honest wear and light oxidation throughout the barrel. The bore is superb, bright with sharp rifling and no erosion, rating a 10/10. The walnut stock remains in Fine Plus condition, showing only modest wear from use and age. The factory scope, likely a Winchester-marked or unmarked A5-type optic, still holds 90% of its finish, though the image is slightly cloudy.
