Sights / Optics: The front sight is a blade fixed to the barrel. The top strap is grooved to serve as a rear sight.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are two-piece smooth pearl panels. The grips show light handling wear with a little minor discoloration. Each panel has a tiny loss at the bottom-front corner on the inside edge. There are no cracks, but there are grain lines. Overall, the grips are in Very Good-Fine condition as Antique

Bore Condition: The bore is semi-bright and the rifling is sharp. There is scattered light erosion in the bore. In this writer's opinion the bore rates 7/10.
Overall Condition: This revolver retains approximately 80% of its metal finish. The frame has some finish loss on the topstrap, at the cylinder gap, and a little in the grip areas, exposing the brass underneath. The barrel has some scattered wear, most notable at the muzzle. There is some scattered light oxidation. There are some light nicks, scratches and tool marks. The action shows operational wear. The screw heads are tool marked with strong slots. The markings are clear including the barrel's etched panel. Overall, this revolver is in Fine condition as Antique.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We have not fired this revolver. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
Our Assessment: The Colt New Line revolvers were produced from 1873 to 1877 as small-frame pocket revolvers, ideal for concealed carry in the late 19th century. Chambered for the .22 rimfire cartridge, this 7-shot revolver was popular for its compact size, affordability, and ease of concealment. These pistols provided personal protection in an era when carrying a discreet firearm was commonplace. This particular example from 1876 retains a significant amount of its original nickel finish as well as a clear and distinct etched panel.
Collectors of antique Colt firearms will appreciate this revolver for its historical significance and originality. With careful cleaning and conservation, it would make a notable addition to any antique firearm collection.
