Sights/Optics: There are no provisions for iron sights. The receiver is tapped to receive an optic, though none is present.
Grip/Stock Configuration & Condition: The furniture is one piece wood with a raised cheekpiece, smooth semi-pistol grip, front and rear sling swivels, and a synthetic Jostam Hy-Gun recoil pad. The buttpad has light handling wear and remains squishy. The furniture shows only a few minor surface scratches and pressure dings. The LOP measures 14.5" from the front of the trigger to the back of the recoil pad. There is a small crack at the rear sling swivel. There is a small chip taken from the upper tang. The furniture rates in Very Good condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is grey and the rifling is worn. There is light pitting and mild erosion throughout the bore. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 6/10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 85% of its nonoriginal metal finish. The finish shows scattered spots of surface oxidation, a few scratches, and thinning on the floorplate. The screw heads have little to no tooling and retain turnable slots. The markings are clear and complete. Overall, this rifle rates in Good to Very Good condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this firearm. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This custom sporterized Remington Model 1903 was originally manufactured in 1942 and is built on one of the most respected American military bolt-action actions ever produced. Following the war, thousands of surplus Springfield rifles were converted into sporting rifles, and the strong, Mauser-inspired action became one of the most popular foundations for custom hunting rifles in America. This example reflects that long tradition of practical sporting conversions.
Chambered in .30-06 Springfield with a 22.5 inch barrel, this rifle is well suited for hunting virtually any North American game. The shortened barrel and aftermarket sporter stock provide improved handling while retaining the strength and reliability of the original military action. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 6 out of 10, showing moderate wear with visible rifling remaining. The action functions correctly.
The aftermarket wooden sporter stock rates in Very Good condition with light handling wear consistent with careful use. This rifle retains approximately 85% of its non-original metal finish, presenting an attractive overall appearance while reflecting its custom sporting conversion.
