Sights/ Optics: The front sight is a serrated blade set between a base, dovetailed to the barrel. The rear sight is a v-notch semi-buckhorn sight, dovetailed to the barrel.
Stock Configuration & Condition/ Grip: The stock is a one piece half-stock with capped forend, two barrel wedges, straight wrist, straight comb with cheek piece, crescent buttplate, and three ram rod pipes. There are a few minor compressions. There are no chips or cracks. The LOP is about 13" and 14" from the front of the triggers to the rear of the buttplate, respectively. Overall, the stock rates in Fine condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore. There is minor surface oxidation in the muzzle. In this writer's opinion the bore rates 9/10
Overall Condition: This rifle retains 90% of its browned finish. There is little to no handling or operational wear. There is very light intermittent oxidation. The markings are clear. The screw heads are sharp. Overall, this black powder rifle rates in Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We have not fired this rifle. As with all previously owned firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: The Hawken rifle is one of the defining American sporting arms of the western expansion era, associated especially with the St. Louis shop of Jacob and Samuel Hawken and the fur trade of the Rocky Mountain West. Original Hawken plains rifles were substantial, large-bore arms built for hard use, commonly incorporating heavy octagonal barrels, half-stocks, percussion ignition, and double-set triggers. This contemporary .58 caliber rifle follows that classic plains-rifle pattern with its 36" octagonal barrel, two-wedge half-stock, crescent buttplate, cheekpiece, and double-set trigger arrangement.
This example remains in Excellent condition, retaining approximately 90% of its browned finish with only minor oxidation and very little handling or operational wear. The stock is likewise well preserved with only minor compressions and no chips or cracks, while the bright, sharply rifled bore rates 9/10. With its substantial .58 caliber bore, traditional architecture, long octagonal barrel, and strong overall condition, this is an attractive contemporary interpretation of the classic American Hawken-style percussion rifle.
