Sights / Optics: The front sight is a round blade fixed to the front of the slide. The rear sight is a "U"-notch dovetailed to the rear of the slide.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are two-piece checkered brown plastic with reinforcement rings around the grip screws and reinforcement ribs on the interior. The grips have no notable wear or damage, only light handling marks. The checkering is sharp. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the grips are in Excellent condition.

Type of Finish: Parkerized

Finish Originality: Original

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion, this bore rates 10 out of 10.

Overall Condition: This pistol retains about 97% of its metal finish. There are some scattered minor scuffs and light handling marks, most notable on the front of the barrel bushing. The action shows minor operational wear, mostly on the barrel hood. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this pistol is in Fine condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this pistol. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This pistol comes in a two-piece cardboard craft box inside a two-piece blue cardboard Colt box, itself inside of a white cardboard sleeve with serial-matching label. Included is an assortment of factory paperwork including manual and a total of two 7-round magazines. The sleeve is missing the ear opposite the label-end.

Our Assessment: Colt’s 1911 served the United States military through two World Wars and several other conflicts, is still in use by some units today, and has become popular with law enforcement, competitors, and recreational shooters across the nation. The design has seen some updates including a firing-pin block safety, higher-profile sights, and more ergonomic grips, but the basic design and fantastic trigger remain the same after more than a century.

This is an interesting example made by Colt as a reproduction of the WWII M1911A1. There are a couple of minor deviations from the original, most notable being a Delta Elite-style cutout for the slide stop on the frame (not visible when assembled) and a smooth trigger face. This reproduction was limited, originally intended to run 4,000 pieces with the model discontinued before this number had been reached. The pistol comes in its original packaging including a reproduction craft box and will make a wonderful addition to any collection. Please see our photos and good luck!
