Sights / Optics: The front sight is a blade pinned to a serrated, ramped base fixed to the front of the barrel. The rear sight is a square notch adjustable for windage and elevation in a base pinned to the rear of the slide.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are two-piece checkered walnut with a thumb-shelf on the left panel for a right-handed shooter. The grips have only a few minor marks. The checkering is well defined. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the grips are in Excellent condition.

Finish Originality: Original

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 10 out of 10.

Overall Condition: This pistol retains about 98% of its metal finish. There is no notable wear or damage, only light handling marks and faint operational wear. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this pistol is in Excellent condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this pistol. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This pistol comes in a wood-grain cardboard Colt box with serial-matching label and a single 10-round magazine.

Our Assessment: This is a Colt Woodsman pistol, made in 1975. It has a 6" round barrel, adjustable target sights and a heel magazine release. John M. Browning designed “Colt’s Automatic Pistol, Caliber .22”, later to become the Woodsman, with the design refined slightly by Colt employees George Tansley and F.C. Chadwick before it was released in 1915 and the Woodsman stayed in production until 1974. The 4" Sport model was a favorite with outdoorsmen, the Match Target was the top-of-the-line target pistol for decades, and the Target model, such as this one, was a wonderful target pistol for amateurs and those just getting into competition. This pistol is in Excellent overall condition with about 98% of its original finish remaining, showing signs of little use over the last 50 years.
