Sights/Optics: The front sight is an under-cut blade pinned to a serrated, ramped base fixed to the front of the barrel. The rear sight is a square notch adjustable for windage and elevation in a base dovetailed to the rear of the slide.

Grip/Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are two-piece checkered wood with a thumb-shelf on the left panel for a right-handed shooter. The is the Rampant Colt logo on the right panel. The grips have no notable blemishes. The checkering is well defined. There are no chips or cracks. The grips rate in about Excellent condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is mostly bright and the rifling is sharp with faint fouling. There is faint erosion at the muzzle end of the bore. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 9/10.

Overall Condition: This firearm retains about 75% of its original metal finish. The finish shows edge wear, spots of oxidation, scattered scratches, and some thinning. The markings are clear and complete. The screw heads show little to no tooling and retain turnable slots. Overall, this firearm rates in Very Good condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this firearm. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This Colt Woodsman Match Target Model 2nd Series was manufactured in 1949 and qualifies as a Curio and Relic firearm. Produced by Colt, the Second Series Woodsman marked the post-World War II evolution of John M. Browning's legendary rimfire pistol. The Match Target variant was developed specifically for competitive target shooting, featuring a heavy 6 inch barrel, precision sights, and the superb trigger quality that made the Woodsman one of the premier American target pistols. These early Second Series examples are especially desirable as they bridge the classic pre-war and later post-war Woodsman designs.

Chambered in .22 Long Rifle with a 6 inch barrel, the Match Target delivers the outstanding balance, accuracy, and handling characteristics that made it a favorite among bullseye competitors and recreational target shooters. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 9 out of 10, indicating excellent rifling with light evidence of use. The action functions correctly.
