Sights / Optics: The front sight is a blade pinned in a slotted base fixed to the front of the barrel, adjustable for elevation. The rear sight is a square notch adjustable for windage dovetailed to the topstrap.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are two-piece checkered walnut with silver-colored Colt medallions. There is verdigris visible around the escutcheons and medallions. The grips show light handling wear with a few scattered light marks. The right panel has a thin crack on the bottom at the indexing pin hole. The checkering is well defined. Overall, the grips rate in about Very Good condition.

Finish Originality: Original

Bore Condition: The bore is bright with sharp rifling. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 10/10.

Overall Condition: This revolver retains about 87% of its metal finish. The finish is thinning at most edges. There is light handling wear in the grip areas with some wear on the right of the frame behind and below the cylinder. Some worn areas are going to a light patina. There are a few scattered minor nicks and scratches. The action shows operational wear including a thin turn-line on the cylinder. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this revolver is in Very Good condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We have not fired this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This revolver comes with a two-piece blue Colt cardboard box.

Our Assessment: The Colt Officer’s Model Target was one of the premier revolvers of its time and was considered the gold standard for precision revolver shooting. This 1941 example, chambered in .22 Long Rifle, was manufactured just before America’s entry into World War II and showcases Colt’s craftsmanship at its peak. With 87% original blue finish, excellent mechanics, and sharp bore, this revolver is an outstanding representative of the classic Officer’s Model line.
