Sights/Optics: The front sight is a blade pinned to a serrated, ramped base fixed to the front of the barrel. The rear sight is a square notch adjustable for windage and elevation in a base pinned to the topstrap.

Stock Configuration and Condition: The grips are two-piece checkered walnut with silver-colored Colt medallions. The grips have a few minor nicks and scuffs, but no notable damage. The checkering is well defined. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the grips are in Fine-plus condition.

Finish Originality: Original

Bore Condition: The bore is mostly bright with sharp rifling. There is no erosion in the bore, but there is a little stubborn fouling. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 9+ out of 10.

Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 97% of its metal finish. The finish is thinning at some leading edges. There is faint handling wear in the backstrap. There are a few scattered tiny marks. The action shows little operational wear with a thin, incomplete turn-line on the cylinder, mostly in the lead-in grooves. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this revolver rates in Fine-Excellent condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We have not fired this revolver. As with all used firearms, thorough and consistent cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Box, Paperwork, and Accessories: This revolver comes in a two-piece wood-grain cardboard Colt box with model-matching label, serial number hand-written on the bottom of the tray, "Handling the Handgun" pamphlet, warranty card, serial-matching test target and Colt branded sight adjustment tool.

Our Assessment: The Officers Model was Colt’s premium revolver until the introduction of the super-premium Python in 1953. Back when revolvers were the target gun of choice, Colt models were the target revolver of choice and it’s very easy to see why. This example was manufactured in 1960. As is generally the case with Colt revolvers, the lockup on this 65 year old revolver is outstanding, a testament to the craftsmanship of Colt firearms—it is something not often seen even in finer commercial offerings even today. The revolver retains nearly all of its original finish and the bore is bright. In form and function this is the same fantastic quality Match revolver it was when it rolled off the assembly line in 1960 and will be of serious interest to the discerning Colt collector or target shooter.
