Sights/Optics: The front sight is a serrated, ramped blade fixed to the barrel. The rear sight is a square notch adjustable for windage and elevation in a base pinned to the topstrap.

Stock Configuration and Condition: The grips are two-piece checkered black plastic with rampant colt in oval at their tops and American eagle at their bottoms. The grips have no notable wear or damage, only light handling marks. The checkering is well defined and there is good detail in the colts and eagles. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the grips are in Excellent condition.

Finish Originality: Original

Bore Condition: The bore is mostly bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore, but there is a little stubborn fouling. In this writer's opinion the bore rates 9/10.

Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 97% of its metal finish. There is a little bit of faint oxidation on the side faces of the hammer. The action shows minor operational wear. Otherwise, there are only light handling marks. The screw heads range from sharp to very lightly tool marked with strong slots. The markings are clear. Overall, this pistol is in Fine-plus condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: On offer here is the adjustable sighted cousin of Colt's legendary Single Action Army, the New Frontier Single Action Army. While the original SAA revolvers have rugged, fixed sights, the New Frontier has a ramped front sight and adjustable rear sight, giving it a rather contemporary appearance. Still made by Colt and true to the original design, this one was made in 1976. This New Frontier model comes with a .22 LR cylinder, perfect for plinking or taking care of pests in the yard. The revolver is in Fine-plus condition with a strong bore and good mechanics. The finish is generally strong throughout and the revolver shows evidence of limited and responsible use.
