Sights / Optics: The front sight is a hooded post. The rear sight is a tangent leaf adjustable sight with an escalator, graded from 1 to 10, with a III at the battle-ready position.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The rifle features a hardwood military stock with pockmarks and scars that have been smoothed and stained over, making them visually unobtrusive. The upper handguard is made of fiberglass, colored to match the wood. The cleaning kit is housed in the buttstock. There is a sling loop on the belly of the buttstock and another built into the gas block. The stock remains structurally sound and in very fine condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is mirror bright with strong rifling. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 9.5/10.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains 98% of its finish. The stock shows honest wear from storage, but no major damage.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The safety is functional. We did not fire this rifle. As with all surplus firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: Includes one original 10-round box magazine matching "14634," one additional 10-round box magazine, two 30-round duckbill magazines, and five stripper clips. The cleaning rod is included.

Our Assessment: This Chinese SKS Type 56, manufactured by Norinco, is a well-preserved example of an imported military rifle with matching serial numbers on key components. The spike bayonet is in very good condition, and the upper handguard is fiberglass-matched to the wood stock, which is an interesting and period-correct feature.

The rifle remains mechanically solid, and its bore is in outstanding condition, making it an excellent shooter. The inclusion of multiple magazines (both original and aftermarket) and stripper clips adds to its versatility for both collectors and shooters.
