Sights/Optics: The front sight is a blade with protective wings dovetailed into a base banded around the barrel. The rear sight is an adjustable elevation v-notch sight.

Grip/Stock Configuration & Condition: The furniture is two piece wood in the standard carbine configuration. The buttplate is mostly in the white and shows moderate handling wear. The cleaning kit compartment is empty. The furniture shows scattered pressure dings, drag lines, and surface scratches. The LOP measures 13" from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. There are no chips or cracks. The furniture rates in Very Good condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is mostly bright and the rifling is sharp with light fouling. There is light erosion scattered in the bore. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 8/10.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 85% of its nonoriginal metal finish. The finish shows spots of light patina, light edge wear, and minor thinning. The screw heads show faint tooling and retain turnable slots. The markings are clear and complete. Overall, this rifle rates in Very Good condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this firearm. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This Ceskoslovenska Zbrojovka Vz. 33 Carbine was manufactured in 1935 and qualifies as a Curio and Relic firearm. Produced by Ceskoslovenska zbrojovka in Brno, the Vz. 33 was developed as a compact Mauser-pattern carbine for military and police use. Featuring the renowned controlled-round-feed Mauser action, the Vz. 33 became highly regarded for its compact dimensions, robust construction, and excellent handling. The design proved influential, serving as the basis for several later military carbines, including the German Gewehr 33/40 adopted after the occupation of Czechoslovakia.

Chambered in 7.92x57mm Mauser with a 19.4 inch barrel, this rifle combines the legendary Mauser action with one of the most successful military cartridges of the 20th century.
