Sights/Optics: There are no iron sights currently mounted. There are sections of picatinny on the gas block and on the upper receiver.

Grip/Stock Configuration & Condition: The forend is a tubular handguard with a sling stud. The pistol grip is a Hogue grip with Rock River markings. The stock is a fixed A2 profile with a sling ring on the bottom and storage compartment in the butt. The safety selector is Rock River's proprietary selector. The LOP measures 14" from the face of the trigger to the rear of the butt. The furniture shows very light handling wear. There are no chips or cracks. This furniture rates in Fine Plus to Excellent condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp with some light fouling. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 9.5/10.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 99% of its metal finish. There are only a few minor scratches and rub marks present. The pins show light marks and remain fully functional. The markings are clear and complete. Overall, this rifle rates in about Fine+ condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this firearm. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This rifle presents in Fine Plus overall condition, retaining approximately 99% of its original matte finish. The exterior surfaces are clean and evenly preserved with minimal handling evidence, and the full length 20" barrel gives the rifle a traditional service rifle profile with steady balance and a long sighting plane.

Mechanically, the rifle is excellent. The bore rates 9.5 out of 10 with bright steel and sharp rifling, indicating light use. The action functions correctly with smooth cycling and proper lockup, consistent with Rock River Arms assembly standards. The 7.62mm NATO chambering paired with the longer barrel favors controlled recoil impulse and consistent performance.

As configured, this LAR-8 represents a clean, accuracy oriented semi automatic rifle that reflects early 2000s AR design priorities.
